DISTRICT 9 DRAUGHT HAUS is owned and operated by husband and wife team, ANDY and DANA THOMPSON, East Dallas residents who share a passion for beer, sausage, music, community and White Rock Lake! The two met and married in 1993 while Andy was fronting Dallas alt-rock band, the Buck Pets, and Dana was completing her Literary Studies degree and Teaching Certificate at UTD. They married the same year, and in 1996, welcomed their first-born, WILL HENRY, into their cozy East Dallas cottage.

In the summer of 2000, the Thompsons packed up young Will and their boxer Jack and moved to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where they partnered with Andy’s parents in the purchase of a historical country store. The following year they welcomed another addition to the family, WYNETH MAY, whom they affectionately call WYNNIE. The store gradually morphed into a unique grocery with a full-service meat and seafood counter, gourmet breads, cheeses and ice creams, produce and eggs from local farms, and huge selections of craft beer and wines. While Dana continued to teach at the local high school, Andy was busy with renovations and the additions of a casual fine dining restaurant and a pizza parlor.

Andy’s favorite developments while in Virginia were his artisanal sausages and his home brews. German-style lagers and his special bratwurst recipe are both predilections born from German heritage and Wisconsin roots! So when the Thompsons moved back to Dallas in the summer of 2016, they began searching for the perfect spot in their East Dallas neighborhood to offer brats and other family favorites along with a great selection of beer and wine.
